This agreement is between you and Provaz B.V., the Netherlands (“we”, details on the about page), and covers the dux app, its command line tool dux and its updates (the “software”). By installing or using the software you accept it. If you use dux for an organization, you confirm you may accept this agreement for that organization.
License
We grant you a personal, non exclusive, non transferable license to install and use the software on Macs, as follows:
- Free: on every Mac you own or use personally, without time limit.
- Pro: on up to 5 Macs you own or use personally, for as long as your license is valid.
- Business: on the number of Macs (seats) you bought, for the organization named in the license, for as long as your license is valid.
A one time Pro license includes the updates of dux 1. Later major versions may need a new license.
What you may not do
You may not copy the software except to install and back it up, sell, rent or sublicense it, remove license checks or notices, reverse engineer it except where the law allows it regardless of this agreement, or use license keys on more Macs than you bought.
Ownership
We own the software, the name dux and its artwork. You own your files and your data. The software does not upload them.
Your files
dux changes files only after you review and confirm. It moves items to the Trash or replaces duplicates with APFS clones, and runs system tool commands only when you have read them. Some actions cannot be undone, and the review sheet says so. You are responsible for what you confirm. Keep a backup of anything you cannot replace.
App Store build
If you got dux from the Mac App Store, Apple’s terms for apps also apply. If the two conflict, Apple’s terms decide the relationship with Apple, and this agreement decides the rest.
Updates and licenses
The direct download checks for updates. Your license is verified on your Mac and, for yearly and Business licenses, refreshed near its end date. If a license ends, the app continues to work as the Free plan.
No warranty and liability
The software is provided as is. We give no warranty beyond what the law requires, and we are not liable for indirect damage or for data you lose through a cleanup you confirmed, except where the law does not allow it, for example for intent or gross negligence. Your statutory consumer rights remain.
Ending this agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by removing the software. We can end it if you break it. Sections that by their nature continue (ownership, liability) continue after it ends.
Applicable law
Governing law and competent court: to be added by the owner.
